Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Wykeham Arms, full of history and character, often charms guests with its central location, just a short walk from the Cathedral and city centre. Many appreciate the well-appointed rooms, some featuring thoughtful touches like fridges, nespresso machines, and even lavender bath salts; plus, the breakfast using local ingredients is often described as superb. Some guests have found rooms across the street accessible via narrow stairs, which could pose a challenge. The pub's original decor is also a highlight, and convenient parking is a plus, though you might need to leave your keys.

limited menu high price
The room had good facilities I thought that was acceptable.
The food seemed overpriced to me and came from a limited menu. I was charged too much for a ploughman's lunch. It included focaccia olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It did not really feel like a traditional ploughman's.

charming stay

lavender bath salts comfortable bed delicious breakfast
the breakfast was delicious. i appreciated the lavender bath salts provided. the bed was comfortable for sleeping. the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
the menu was somewhat limited. i found the options not particularly sophisticated. a greater variety could enhance the dining experience. the ploughman's lunch was a bit odd.

The food tasted good and the staff seemed very helpful.
I found the Single Room quite small. The size was smaller than I expected, and I felt a bit cramped. There was not enough space for luggage. This affected my stay negatively.
